New book launched to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CEDAW
To mark the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), The Icelandic Human Rights Centre, in conjuction with the Centre for Gender Equality, Ministry of Social Affairs and Social Security along with UNIFEM in Iceland, are publishig an educational booklet on the Convention, in Icelandic.
The purpose for publishing this book is to boost a greater awareness and knowledge of womens' rights and thereby encourage the forming of a society inwhich women are equal partners enjoying equal rights, as well as civil and political rights, and a life without fear in regards to their lives and sustenance.
The book can be purchased at our office, at UNIFEM's office and elsewhere.
The book will be launched at a UNIFEM's 'jólaglögg', an Icelandic Christmas cozy tradition, at the United Nation's Centre on Laugavegur 42, from 5pm to 7pm, 18th of December.
